Inventory count night without the scramble
A field checklist for warehouse managers hosting auditors during year-end stock counts in Taiwan.
Inventory observation is where audit plans meet forklifts. A calm count night starts two weeks earlier with a map of bins, a freeze window, and a named floor lead.
Freeze movements with a written window
Goods received or shipped during the count need a holding area and a log. Without that, cutoff testing becomes a reconstruction exercise from shipping notes the next morning.
Tag counted locations visibly
We test whether counted tags match the sheet, not whether the warehouse looks tidy. Clear tags reduce re-counts and arguments about double-counted aisles.
Keep the variance list short and owned
Differences between count and book should have an owner before the auditors leave the floor. Unowned variances resurface as adjusting entries at the worst moment in the close.
